What makes a good dog friendly pub or restaurant? I always think it is a place that makes you feel welcome and relaxed enough to enjoy your time there. Dog friendly as opposed to dog tolerant. Here are our favourite dog friendly pubs in Cambridge, where you can kick-back and take in some wonderful food and drink… with your hound!

BrewDog Cambridge:

This super-central city centre pub is really dog friendly. Set over two floors, it is easy to find space for you and your dog so suitable for less sociable or nervous hounds.  Dog bowls are available in the pub and the floors are wood so you can relax and not worry about the impact of paws! Great range of craft beers and guest brews available. Food is served too.

Free Press:

Old school pub Free Press Cambridge has been licenced since 1834 and is still serving award winning beers and ales today. The pub has retained many original features so if full of history. The Free Press offer a great selection of locally sourced food. A super cosy pub, with open fires and a courtyard garden for the warmer months. Dog friendly areas to enjoy inside and out.

The Plough, Fen Ditton:

You and your dog(s) will be given a warm welcome at the Plough– you might even get a dog treat! Get cosy with your hound in the bar area and warm by the open fire. Alternatively, Enjoy the outside area with your furry friends too. A great venue for really good quality food and drink. Just under 3 miles from the city, why not have a long dog walk and take a refreshment break at The Plough? Book in advance if possible.

The Crown and Punchbowl Horninsea:

Part of the Cambs Cuisine group, you know that you will be getting great quality food and drink at The Crown and Punchbowl in Horningsea.  Dogs are welcome in the pub and bar area and can refresh themselves with the available water. You may even choose to buy some of the dog treats!

Novi:

The Three Horseshoes:

Another entry for the Cambs Cuisine group, The Three Horseshoes is based in Madingley, about 4 miles from the city centre. Dogs are allowed in the pub and the pub garden so this is a good choice of venue to grab some tasty food and have a break in your dog walk. Dog biscuits available!

The Arts Picturehouse:

OK, so this is not a pub but an added bonus entry- how about a dog friendly cinema experience? The Arts Picturehouse hold regular dog friendly screenings for you to enjoy with your well behaved pooch. Dogs can sit on a blanketed seat and enjoy the film alongside their owners, cashing in on water and snacks. They even reduce the sound of the movie to cater for a dogs more sensitive ears- how adorable!
