Cambridge has many festive things to see and do to get you in the Christmas spirit. Here are the things you simply can’t miss when starting to celebrate Christmas in Cambridge.
Christmas in Cambridge:
If you are visiting Cambridge with children, there are plenty of things to see and do. Enjoy some festive fun at Christmas in Cambridge on Parkers Piece where you can really get in the festive spirit with ice skating, Christmas market, maze, the Alpine Bar and a big wheel! From 14th November until 5th January 2025.
Catch a Christmas movie:
Cambridge has three cinemas to choose from. The Vue cinema in the Grafton centre has wonderful reclining leather seats to lay back and enjoy the film. While you are there, enjoy the new and improved food offering in the Grafton Centre food court- be sure to visit Amelie. The Arts Picturehouse is a smaller screen, showing less mainstream films, new releases and classics. The Arts has special feature screenings, for example the dog friendly showings, autism friendly films, OAP sessions and more. The third cinema is inside Cambridge Leisure- more about this below.
Watch a panto:
Or how about a trip to the theatre? There is nothing like a panto to get you in the Christmas mood is there? Insert ‘oh no there isn’t’, oh yes there is’ etc. here! Sing Christmas carols:
You may have enjoyed the televised Christmas Carols at Kings College, so a visit to the college itself can feel very festive. Visit the colleges in the city as they are simply stunning. You can walk and visit many of them.
Shopping:
There are many excellent independent shops and Christmas markets in Cambridge alongside the high street favourites. Wander the beautiful streets and find the perfect gifts for your oved ones. See our Christmas shopping in Cambridge guide for more about shopping.
You can also wander the Grafton Quarter. The annual Mill Road Winter Fair is held on the first Saturday of December each year and brings together local businesses and organisations. Here you can find your Christmas shopping items from the local shops and stallholders whilst taking in culture from the musicians, artists and dancers. There are many excellent places to eat and drink on Mill Road too.
Eat wonderful food:
Finding delicious festive food won’t be difficult in Cambridge. The Pint Shop serve a fabulous festive snowball or mulled wine and many of the excellent independent restaurants and cafes have Christmas food to please the whole family.
