Sandwiches in Cambridge
Proper sarnies at Bread and Meat

This fantastic independent gourmet sandwich shop serves up a great selection, all packed with locally sourced ingredients and 100% British meats. The Porchetta is stuffed full of pork and topped with fresh zingy salsa Verde and crunchy crackling. My favourite is the honey soy chicken. Enjoy chicken thighs marinated in ginger, soy and garlic and topped with a crisp namasu salad and homemade hot sriracha sauce -a taste sensation. Other options include roast beef, and the Philly cheese steak (Bread & Meat style). They also offer a good selection of sides and drinks.

Chutney Chutney Bang Bang at Urban Larder

This little coffee shop situated on Mill road knocks out outstanding toasties alongside freshly roasted coffee. A perfect combination! This is toastie land, so cheese is king. Go for the Big Cheesy, a finger licking blend of cheddar and Monterey jack, or perhaps the Chutney Chutney Bang Bang which puts together mature cheddar, Cumberland sausage and of course the onion chutney. Signorelli’s Deli:

Fresh sandwiches at Signorelli’s Deli

This Italian deli makes its own fresh bread in house on a daily basis. This wonderful bread is the vessel for fillings such as Pesto, tomato and fresh mozzarella, or Spicy salame, ‘nduja and mascarpone. All are generous and flavour packed. Pick a sweet treat to round off your lunch too- the Cannolo are superb. These are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside due to the ricotta cream. Choose between traditional or go modern with chocolate chips and pistachio- or buy both!

Café Foy:

Tasty toasties at Café Foy

Located by the River Cam on Quayside, this small independent café and bar offers a lip smacking selection of hot and tasty toasties. The meaty offerings are delicious. The Rueben is packed with Home cured Dexter beef pastrami, Emmental cheese, American mustard, pickles and sauerkraut. The Iberico is a super mixture of Chorizo, Iberico cheese, chilli’s, sour cream and peppery rocket. Going meat free? Try the shroom toasties which combines field mushrooms with roasted kale and oozing Ogleshield/vegan cheese. A picturesque location to enjoy your sandwich too.

Smokeworks:

1-3 Station Rd, Cambridge CB1 2JBsandwich cambridge

Famous for its classic BBQ inspired food SmokeWorks also offers amazing sandwiches. They call them ‘stuff in bread’ and every sandwich is served warm in crusty bread with fries and house slaw, so great value as well as taste! I would recommend the house sandwich. Choose from either BBQ pulled pork or beef brisket, this is then topped with smokey BBQ beans, Monterey jack cheese, sliced pickles and BBQ mayo. Absolutely fabulous. Honourable mention as well for the SmokeWorks sausage sandwich. The smoked sausage is covered in mixed peppers & onions, Monterey jack cheese and sriracha mayo. Great meat free options too! Enjoy.
