I do love a spa day! The most recent being the beautiful, and relatively new Cambridge County Club spa in Bourn. After only having been open a year, the spa already boasted being a finalist in the following awards:
BEST NEW SPA‘ CATEGORY OF ‘THE GOOD SPA AWARDS 2021‘ & ‘BEST DAY SPA IN WESTERN EUROPE & SCANDINAVIA’ CATEGORY OF ‘THE WORLD SPA AWARDS 2022’
Amazing! And I can see why too. This is a wonderful place and I feel very lucky to have it so close to home. Here is why we loved it so much!
Arrival:
It was a rainy day and we walked in to the grand looking spa to be greeted by extremely welcoming, friendly staff. It literally felt like our every need was taken care of from the minute we opened the doors. We had the choice to tweak our treatments to suit our needs on the day too- I love this flexibility! Of course we chose to add treatments to our package- why wouldn’t we?
Our spa day package:
We visited for the Mindful Spa day package, priced at £139. This includes use of facilities, towels, robe and slippers, and a 30 minute Back, Neck & Shoulder massage followed by a 30 minute personalised Express Elemis Facial. It also included a 2 course lunch and a glass of fizz! This is really great value in such a luxurious spa.
The Facilities:
There are plenty of peaceful places to lose yourself at the spa. In our case this was places to snuggle up for a really good catch up. We started with the beautiful pool, which has a bubbly area within it. There is also a poolside steam room and sauna. Plenty of loungers were available too which is always a bonus.
There are more spa facilities upstairs where the treatment rooms are based. The Himalayan Salt Spa beds were lovely. They gradually increased in heat so gently warmed those achy muscles pre-treatment. There was also a beautifully dimly-lit relaxation room with cosy ‘love seats’ to snuggle up in and rest after treatments. The spa boasts a gym too but we chose to ignore that!
Treatments:
The treatments we are wonderful as the facilities. My massage was perfectly targeted to my stiff shoulders, and as a notoriously fussy massage customer, I was genuinely impressed and delighted.
The pedicure was also excellent. Both treatments felt like great value for money and were completely personalised to our needs.
Lunch:
The two course lunch fitted with the feel of total pampering- we were warmly welcomed with a glass of fizz on arrival. The room was plush and cosy and the food delicious. We opted for the eggs benedict royale, apparently a favourite from the spa menu and I see why. Good quality ingredients and a generous amount. Delicious.
Finished with a tasty wedge of baked cheesecake and a hot peppermint tea. Perfect!
Cambridge County Club Spa:
I was super impressed with every element of the spa day at the Cambridge County Club spa. I felt more relaxed than I had felt in a very long time. The spa never felt busy during our visit and we always had plenty of space to use all of the facilities. It was effortless relaxation and truly felt like stepping out of everyday life and into calm luxury. The staff were wonderful and made our day perfect with all the extra touches. A visit is highly recommended. We will be booking again very soon!
